Although his name is being floated as a possible candidate for the athletic director’s job at Texas, former Longhorns coach Mack Brown said he hasn’t talked about the job.
Steve Patterson was fired on Tuesday after 22 months on the job by Texas president Greg Fenves.
“I had a couple of conversations with Greg since he took over (in June),” Brown told ESPN on Tuesday. “We have had absolutely no discussions about the athletic director position. It was more about his vision moving forward at the university. I have had no conversations with anyone about the athletic directors position.”
Other names that have been reported as possibilities include Oliver Luck, the former West Virginia AD now at the NCAA, Bob Bowlsby, the Big 12 commissioner and former Stanford AD, and Tom Jurich, the AD at Louisville.
Bowlsby told the Austin American-Statesman he would help in the search “but I am not a candidate for the position.”
